George Hartley Sollenbarger was the sixth surviving child of David and Mary Margaret Sollenbarger. He went to medical school at the University of Illinois. His sister Maggie helped with his tuition from an inheritance from her father. He has two Children - Floris and Eugene. His medical practice was in his home town of Corydon, Iowa. He attended to his brother David Thomas after David contract ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
