This is a comrehensive Sollenberger tree put together by John L Sollenberger in the 1920s. NOTE: THERE ARE NO SOLLENBARGERS.
My line starts on page ten where my GGGrandfather and his descendents are listed as Sollenberger (David, David T and Earl H), but the name had been changed to SollenbArger sometime in the 1800s
John L Sollenberger listed all the descendents of John Sollenberger (born in 1771). This John was the son of one of the four Sollenbergers that came to this country from Switzerland. His introduction states that the origins of the family was in Germany, but later research shows that Switzerland was the country of origin for the family.
One of the MAJOR contributors
Kay Stromsten (1911 - Present), who is currently living in Bondurant, Iowa near her niece Kathy Tripses, is the daughter of John and Mary Margaret (Sollenbarger) Stromsten. Her father was a professional photographer in the Corydon, Iowa from about 1990 to 1920.
Luckily, Kay's sister Ruth (1906-1981) organized the pictures her father had taken of the Sollenbarger Allen families as well as other pople related through marriage into albums. These albums are the source of many of the pictures in the PDF history. Kathy had the delicate task of scanning these pictures and old new paper clippings
The picture of Kate and her grand niece Mary Kay (daughter of Kathy Tripses) was taken in 2009.
Allen Contributors
I found Calvin Williams through ancestry.com in 2010. He is a 3rd cousin once removed and is related through the Allen line. His direct ancestor is John R Allen, who was my great grandmother's brother. He and his sister, Marie Swangel, sent me many old pictures of the Alan family.
Marie is on the right and Calvin is on the left in the picture below.
